WHEN IS THE OPEN HOUSE? Saturday, April 4, 2020
HOW TO REGISTER: Please register by going to RMPA’s website homepage at www.rockymtnparalegal.org and clicking on the registration link. The fee is $20 which will cover course materials. Or you may choose to pay $50 which also includes a one-year membership to RMPA at a reduced price. You may pay with a credit card when you register for the event or, for group registrations only, please mail a check/money order to the RMPA address listed on the website. Unfortunately, same day/walk-in registrations cannot be accommodated.
WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO ARRIVE? Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. Any person who arrives after 9:00 a.m. and fails to alert the event staff by calling ahead will be denied entrance to the event and will not receive a refund of the fee paid. The Open House will end at 3:00 p.m.
WHEN DOES REGISTRATION CLOSE? Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 12:00 pm
WHERE WILL THE STUDENT OPEN HOUSE BE HELD? Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell, 370 17th Street, Suite 4500, Denver, CO 80200.
WILL FOOD BE PROVIDED? Yes, a Continental breakfast and lunch will be served to registered attendees. Vegetarian options will be available; however, due to the number of individuals, we cannot accommodate all food preferences.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE OPEN HOUSE? The dress attire is business casual. Jeans may be worn if they are clean and no holes. No tank tops, sweat pants, slippers or any clothing not appropriate in a business setting. Court attire is encouraged/
WHERE CAN I PARK? Parking available in fee-based lots, parking garages or on-street parking meters may be available. There is a parking garage at 15th & Tremont. Light Rail is strongly encouraged. No free or validated parking is available. Go to Parkopedia http://en.parkopedia.com to find additional parking lots in the area.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME? Anything you need to take notes, including tablets and laptops. You may also want to bring a sweater or jacket (room temperatures fluctuate); paper, pens/pencils.
HOW LONG DOES EACH SESSION LAST? 15 minutes to 60 minutes depending on topic. Please refer to the schedule when arriving for the Open House.
WILL I BE ABLE TO TALK TO THE SPEAKERS AFTER THE OPEN HOUSE? Yes, Speakers will be available during lunch or after the event.
IS FREE WiFi AVAILABLE? No. Laptops and tablets are permitted, but we ask that all mobile devices be silenced during the sessions.
WHAT ARE THE EDUCATION SESSION TOPICS?
Lessons from Human Resources including common résumé and interviewing mistakes, Dress for Success, Ethics for Paralegals, Résumé Writing and Interviewing Tips (including a panel exercise), Case Management and Organization, Mentoring Opportunities, Paralegal Pro Bono and Community Service Opportunities and Open Discussion including Networking Tips.
RéSUMé WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS? To participate in the résumé writing workshop you MUST sign-up at the time of registration AND bring a printed copy of your résumé to the event. Printing at the event will not be available.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND? No. All attendees must pre-register. Space is limited to 50 attendees.
CAN I BRING IN MY OWN SNACK FOODS? Yes. However, breakfast and lunch will be provided.
CAN I BRING IN MY OWN BEVERAGES? Yes, if they are non-alcoholic and in containers with lids.
ARE THERE VENDING MACHINES AVAILABLE? No.
