Position Summary

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of in-house real estate attorneys, reviews real estate contracts, drafts amendments, reviews title commitments and exception documents, reviews surveys and plats, and drafts title objection letters. Tracks contract deadlines. Prepares documents for closings and coordinates completion of closings with title company personnel and various divisions. Monitors on-going compliance of transactions with company land acquisition policies. Performance of other miscellaneous assigned duties such as researching various legislation, statutes and regulations related to real estate in various jurisdictions.

Requirements

BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience required. Title experience and at least 5 years’ prior experience working with transactional real estate deals as a paralegal or for a title company required. Prior experience working with home builders or developers preferred. Must be able to work under pressure, multi-task and stay organized. Must be able to analyze and advise management as issues arise.   • Tracks and reports progress of appealed cases.
  • Prepares monthly reports and assists Director as needed with other administrative task
  • Reviews and analyze cases pertaining to the recoupment of erroneous payments, fraud and third party liability
  • Recommends dispositions of recoupment cases in accordance with applicable laws, regulations procedures and TRICARE policy and precedents
  • Responds to debt inquiries from debtors, the Department of the Treasury and other interested parties
  • Researches dissolved/out of business debtors and determines collection opportunities
  • Prepares reports on debt collection activities
  • Refer Third Party Liability cases to uniformed services claim offices and coordinate related issues
  • Assists Claims Collection branch attorneys and paralegals in asserting DHA's interest in bankruptcy cases, including preparation of proofs of claim
  • Some situational telework can occur

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or Masters
  • Minimum of 10+ years experience in appeals and litigation preferred

Position Overview:

The ACLU of Colorado seeks to hire a full-time Legal Assistant.  The Legal Assistant provides clerical and administrative support for the Legal Director and three Staff Attorneys on the wide variety of constitutional law and civil liberties issues that comprise the ACLU’s docket.  The Legal Assistant will join an enthusiastic group of individuals who are committed to their work and the organization.  The position requires compassion, a sense of humor, and an ability to juggle multiple assignments with varying deadlines.  We seek candidates who demonstrate professionalism, superior organizational skills, careful attention to detail, and an ability to communicate well with co-workers, clients, prospective clients, and members of the public.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper filing systems (litigation and administrative files), by means of word processing, electronic transfer of documents, scanning, faxing, and copying
  • Assist with drafting and finalizing correspondence and legal documents, by means of cite-checking, formatting, and proofreading
  • Provide basic litigation support, by means of filing and serving legal documents in state and federal court, maintaining calendaring of court deadlines, and other related tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • High school degree and two years of relevant experience
  • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail
  • Strong drive and initiative, with the ability to manage time well in an environment of many concurrent assignments and deadlines
  • A willingness and desire to jump in and help out on any project, to learn new skills, and to take ownership of assignments
  • Proficiency with computers and technology, including advanced use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and ability to conduct Internet research
  • Ability to master new software, such as an intake database or case management program
  • Excellent English reading comprehension and writing skills
  • General familiarity and comfort with the basics of legal terminology and the legal process

Approximate salary range is low-forties, in accordance with salaries in nonprofit organizations in the Denver area, and taking into account skills and experience. Real Estate

Under the supervision of in-house counsel, this position supports all stages of commercial real estate leasing and acquisition.  Majority of day-to-day work will emphasize due diligence review, lease compliance, document preparation, closing coordination, post-closure follow-up, integration and administration. Description University Counsel has a dual report to the Board of Regents and the president of the university and includes several legal functions that provide an array of services to the University of Colorado system. The Office of the University Counsel provides legal advice to the Board of Regents, the president, system administration and the campuses.

Position Summary:
The Legal Support Professional provides administrative support, legal support, and constituent service support to ensure the ongoing and efficient operation of the University Counsel office. This position demonstrates independent and effective decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple, complex and concurrent projects or tasks. The Legal Support Professional will need to have the ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure; requiring limited general supervision for day-to-day tasks. The University Counsel team works closely together and the work is fast-paced. This is not a large office, so everyone is asked to pitch in and help regardless of title. A successful candidate must be able to recognize issues, propose possible resolutions, follow-up, solve problems, and work collaboratively, positively, and professionally in a team environment. This position reports to the Senior Managing Associate Counsel and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Administrative

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and other support staff, which may include:
    • Preparing outgoing mail
    • Greeting visitors, including university, state, and federal officials
    • Maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems
    • Maintaining legal publications
    • Scheduling meetings and resolving associated conflicts
    • Maintaining office equipment and coordinate service calls
  • Serve as building proctor and report maintenance issues.
  • Serve as University Counsel liaison to a wide array of University constituents, including affiliates.
  • Serve as first line IT liaison and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain and purchase office supplies through Marketplace.
  • Prepare mileage and minor expenditure reimbursements through Concur.

Legal

  • Calendar relevant deadlines through Outlook.
  • Issue legal holds using the Exterro platform.
  • Draft letters, memos, pleadings, and other documents as requested.
  • Contact parties to obtain information.
  • Proofread written documents, memos, and pleadings before transmission or filing with courts or administrative agencies.
  • Route and track contracts, leases, and other legal agreements.
  • Collect, organize, index, code, review, and produce documents for disclosure, including in response to Colorado Open Records Act requests.
  • Prepare exhibits for pleadings, administrative agency responses and/or mediations.
  • Update and maintain case files and open case reports.

Advanced Legal Responsibilities

  • Review matters to identify allegations, legal issues, key witnesses, and custodians.
  • Schedule, attend and conduct witness interviews.
  • Review and edit low-risk template agreements under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Under attorney supervision, draft position statements and responses to administrative agency actions, including EEOC, CCRD, OCR, and State Personnel Board.
  • Make initial determination regarding privileged documents requiring redaction.
  • Prepare chronologies, charts, and demonstrative exhibits.
  • Research legal issues, codes, rules, and statutes and draft memos as requested.
  • Coordinate with affiliates and providers regarding treating provider subpoenas.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of prior legal assistant or paralegal experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior employment law experience
  • Paralegal certificate or paralegal studies degree
  • Proficiency with Westlaw, WestNext, Lexis Nexis or other comparable legal research platforms including electronic court filing systems
  • Professional experience providing legal support services in a higher education setting

Position Description:

As a premier regional law firm, Holland & Hart has gained a reputation of providing its clientele with the highest quality legal services. We currently have an opening for a full-time Business Immigration Paralegal to work with our immigration group in our Denver office.

Responsibilities include: Work with a dynamic energetic team and our high-tech, healthcare, and global clients on their immigration challenges.  Work with clients to gather necessary information and documentation required, monitor status of cases, ensure professional and prompt client communication regarding each case.  Draft support letters, affidavits and/or any other necessary documents for the particular type of visa.  Respond to Request for Evidence (RFE), PERM Audits, upon receipt.  Types of visas include, but are not limited to H-1B, TN, E-2, E-3, O-1, L-1, PERM cases, EB-1 Outstanding Researcher applications, I-140 Petitions, I-485 Applications.

Requirements: BA or BS degree.  Preferably 2-3 years of experience as a business immigration paralegal.    In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including experience with each visa type mentioned above.  Strong attention to detail, an ability to prioritize a heavy caseload and work with minimal supervision.  Ability to learn quickly, willingness to take ownership, and exceptional writing skills are critical.  Possesses strong knowledge of procedural requirements for various types of nonimmigrant and immigrant visas.
