The Denver City’s Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced Paralegal II to join the Municipal Operations Section. This position is a valued member of the City Attorney’s Office Municipal Operations section and will perform intermediate level paraprofessional legal work.  Based in the Wellington Webb Building, this position interacts with attorneys, various city agencies, and city council.

The Municipal Operations Section provides full service legal representation and advice to City officials, agencies and employees in the areas of general municipal law, environmental regulation and compliance, construction contracts, procurement, government contracting, tax, municipal finance, bankruptcy, real estate, land use and commercial litigation. This section offers a steady stream of clients with an incredible variety of legal needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform intermediate level paraprofessional legal work assisting attorneys with a full-range of legal support work.
  • Calendar deadlines.
  • Assist in setting up electronic matter files, prepare requests and obtains necessary case documentation.
  • Assists attorneys in drafting legal documents, such as contracts and real estate documents.
  • Investigate the facts of cases/matters and ensures that all relevant information is considered.
  • Collect, compile, organize, index, and analyze various electronic data and documents for use in transactional matters.
  • Conduct title searches and reviews title documents.
  • Conduct legal research in order to summarize laws, court decisions, contracts, legislative actions, and other legal authorities for use in assistance to the attorney in transactional and litigation. Provide immediate research and document retrieval when called upon during trial or meetings
  • Proofreading for substance and format including conformance with approved standards.
  • Respond to client inquiries/communications.
  • Prepare large document production, review for privilege, prepare privilege logs and redact privileged information.
  • Organize, index and manage documentation in transactional matters and ensure they are available and easily accessible to attorneys.
  • Prepare exhibits, assemble documents and prepare files and notebooks for use in transactional matters.
  • Draft contracts and contract amendments for attorney review.
  • Perform lead work as necessary, provide work instruction, assist employees with difficult/unusual assignments, resolve problems encountered during daily operations and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Use of various software programs to complete various work assignments.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, cohesiveness and professionalism.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.

About You

The Paralegal II should possess the following capabilities:

  • Experience in a fast pace legal office setting.
  • Experience drafting contracts, construction and real estate documents.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Extensive experience working with Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with transactional matters.
  • A self-starter and thrives in an environment that is fast-paced and ever-changing.
