FAMILY TREE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:

Family Tree's pro se legal clinic is looking for legal support staff/paralegal volunteers. Family Tree is a metro-wide charitable organization that works with domestic violence victims, the homeless, children, and teenagers. Family Tree operates the Women in Crisis domestic violence shelter in Jefferson County and the protection order clinic at the Jefferson County Courthouse. The legal clinics are staffed by volunteer attorneys. A clinic for domestic violence victims is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Wheatridge, and there is one clinic a month at 6:30 p.m. in Thornton for grandparents or other relatives raising children. After the clients have met with the attorneys, the paralegals/ secretaries assist the clients with completing the necessary court papers to proceed with their cases pro se. Experience in family law is not necessary as training is provided.

VOLUNTEER WITH RMPA - GAIN LEADERSHIP SKILLS

RMPA has a long standing objective to provide continuing education to it's membership, and one of those ways to accomplish this is through volunteer opportunities within RMPA.

Volunteering with RMPA is an opportunity for members to learn and enhance leadership skills, to acquire new skills and improve existing skills. The leadership skills learned while volunteering with RMPA can enhance your value to any firm or organization in which you participate.

RMPA has the following key leadership opportunities available:

Membership Luncheon Committee - Chair or Co-Chair

  • Plans and arranges for monthly luncheon speakers to promote the paralegal profession and membership organization
  • Arranges catering and presents monthly membership luncheons
  • Prepares and sends out a monthly postcard mailing to all members announcing membership luncheons
