Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association (RMPA) website. RMPA is a charter member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado. RMPA represents paralegals throughout the Rocky Mountain region, serving paralegals in Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. The Colorado Bar Association has posted new and updated Guidelines for the Utilization of Paralegals. These Guidelines can be accessed by clicking here.

Effective July 1, 2008, civil filing fees in Colorado have been increased statewide.  A complete list of the new fee structure can be found on the State's judicial website at http://www.courts.state.co.us/chs/court/fees/fees2009.doc.

FAMILY TREE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:

Family Tree's pro se legal clinic is looking for legal support staff/paralegal volunteers. Family Tree is a metro-wide charitable organization that works with domestic violence victims, the homeless, children, and teenagers. Family Tree operates the Women in Crisis domestic violence shelter in Jefferson County and the protection order clinic at the Jefferson County Courthouse. The legal clinics are staffed by volunteer attorneys. A clinic for domestic violence victims is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Wheatridge, and there is one clinic a month at 6:30 p.m. in Thornton for grandparents or other relatives raising children. After the clients have met with the attorneys, the paralegals/ secretaries assist the clients with completing the necessary court papers to proceed with their cases pro se. Experience in family law is not necessary as training is provided.
