FAMILY TREE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Family Tree's pro se legal clinic is looking for legal support staff/paralegal volunteers. Family Tree is a metro-wide charitable organization that works with domestic violence victims, the homeless, children, and teenagers. Family Tree operates the Women in Crisis domestic violence shelter in Jefferson County and the protection order clinic at the Jefferson County Courthouse. The legal clinics are staffed by volunteer attorneys. A clinic for domestic violence victims is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Wheatridge, and there is one clinic a month at 6:30 p.m. in Thornton for grandparents or other relatives raising children. After the clients have met with the attorneys, the paralegals/ secretaries assist the clients with completing the necessary court papers to proceed with their cases pro se. Experience in family law is not necessary as training is provided.
